How ANINE BING Ended a Two-Year Accessibility Project and Freed Its Design Team with TestParty
Two years down to eight weeks:A remediation engagement with Allyant stretched into a two-year project that never cleared its lowest-priority issues. With TestParty, both the US and EU sites reached a clean state within roughly eight weeks.
Six hours a week back:The previous approach consumed about six hours of project-management time every week. With TestParty, the work became, in the team’s words, “literally hands-free.”
Design freedom restored:With compliance handled, ANINE BING regained the freedom to redesign layouts, add video and live text, and use color more boldly—confident their changes would hold once deployed.
US and EU coverage:TestParty maintains both ANINE BING’s US and EU storefronts, with exportable, continuously updated reports the team uses as compliance evidence.
A score leadership watches:The accessibility score is now something ANINE BING’s Chief Commercial Officer follows and celebrates.
THE SCENARIO: A Global Fashion Brand With High Design Standards
ANINE BING is a Los Angeles-founded global fashion house known for a strong, design-led aesthetic across its US and EU storefronts. For a brand where look and feel are central to the experience, accessibility had to be achieved without compromising design, and across multiple markets at once.
THE CHALLENGE: A Two-Year Loop With Allyant
Before TestParty, accessibility at ANINE BING was, in a word, confusing. The brand worked with Allyant on remediation, and the process became a grind that pulled in auditors, internal developers, and a great deal of project management.
“It required so many back-and-forth hours, a lot of me project-managing this to the detail of the vendor we were paying,” said Meaghan Ramientos, Director of eCommerce Marketplaces at ANINE BING. “All of the updates we did would make more bugs in the site. So it was just a continuous loop.”
That loop ran for two years, and even then only the highest-priority issues were resolved. “It took two years to get the project clear of P1 and P2 issues. And we still had never tackled P3,” Meaghan said. The lower-priority backlog was simply too time- and resource-intensive to reach, which left the brand exposed. The cost wasn’t only external: managing the project consumed roughly six hours of Meaghan’s week, every week.
To keep up, ANINE BING effectively put site updates on hold, deferring design and content work to focus on clearing compliance issues.
THE SOLUTION: Hands-Off Remediation That Holds
ANINE BING came to TestParty through a direct outreach after the brand learned TestParty could help, and what differentiated TestParty was how much it took off the team’s plate.
“The elimination of our developer and QA hours was really key,” Meaghan said. “It was financial for sure, but it was the ability to know it was being managed, to trust that it was being managed, and to feel really secure in that, and then to use our time to enhance the site instead of just maintaining and fixing ADA issues.”
That was the turning point. Freed from the remediation treadmill, the design team got its momentum back. “We’ve been able to change the layout of our site. We added in more live text, different features, more videos. We were more open to how we could play with color,” Meaghan said. Previously, third-party vendors and cross-global working sessions, sometimes at 7 a.m. to reach teams abroad, had made every change slow and fragile; updates would get pushed live and then revert. TestParty’s approach removed that drag.
The experience surprised her. “So many surprises. It was literally hands-free. No lift. The most I had to do was reread the accessibility page,” Meaghan said. “You were really transparent about what you could offer, and you met those goals and exceeded my expectations. It was literally plug and play.”
THE RESULTS: Clean Sites, Engaged Leadership, Reclaimed Time
By the brand’s final check-in, both the US and EU sites were in a clean, maintained state, a sharp contrast to the two-year loop that preceded it. TestParty’s exportable, continuously updated reports give ANINE BING legal-ready evidence on demand, an approach the team views as stronger than a once-a-year snapshot.
The shift is visible at the leadership level. “Every time I see the score, I send it to our CCO, and she always gives clapping emojis,” Meaghan said. “It’s really reassuring and exciting from the company’s perspective to see us get to this state.”
And the roughly six hours a week the project used to demand are now spent on work that grows the business rather than defends it.
THE ROAD AHEAD: Connected Across the Industry
ANINE BING continues to receive monthly remediations and reporting across both storefronts, with ongoing support available as the brand evolves, including an upcoming chat-widget update and a planned Shopify 2.0 migration. Beyond the product itself, the partnership has connected ANINE BING with peers in the e-commerce space to compare notes on shared challenges, the kind of community TestParty hopes to keep building among its customers.
